	Parties for Public Sculpture is an ongoing project by James Prevett where artist(s) are invited to work with him to throw a party for a public sculpture in Helsinki. The artists choose the sculpture, define the party and invite its guests. The parties re-activate public sculptures, stimulate their public consciousness and ask what we choose to celebrate and why?

	Parties for Public Sculpture is an ongoing project by James Prevett where artist(s) are invited to throw a party for a public sculpture. The artists choose the sculpture, define the party and invite its guests. They re-activate public sculptures and stimulate their public consciousness. What is the public and who is it for? And what do we choose to celebrate and why?


 Parties for Public Sculpture began in 2017 with four pilot parties in and continues with four parties in August 2018 and four more in 2019. Patsastellan has been based around the extensive public sculpture collection of Helsinki and has been assisted by HAM (Helsinki City Art Museum) who manage the public art collection. &#38;nbsp;

The pilot parties were  supported by Kone Foundation and The Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The continuation has been&#38;nbsp;generously supported by&#38;nbsp;Kone Foundation.

Patsastellaan on James Prevettin ideoima tapahtumasarja, joka kutsuu juhlistamaan julkisia veistoksia eri puolilla Helsinkiä. Taiteilija(t) valitsee mieleisensä veistoksen, määrittelee juhlan luonteen ja kutsuu vieraat. Juhlien tarkoituksena on herättää julkiset veistokset eloon ja lisätä niiden tunnettavuutta. Mitä tarkoittaa julkinen? Kenelle julkinen tila kuuluu? Mikä on muistamisen tai juhlimisen arvoista ja miksi? 
Juhlia ovat taloudellisesti tukeneet Koneen Säätiö ja Taiteen edistämiskeskus

James Prevett is a British artist based in Helsinki. He makes objects, text, images and video often combining them together as sculpture. His work is rooted in an acute interest of what constitutes the physical and by extension the sculptural. James was in a team of artists, musicians and architects that represented Great Britain at the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2006. He has exhibited widely in countries such as UK, Thailand, Singapore, Estonia, USA, Austria and Brazil. James has taught in the UK and Thailand, and is currently a lecturer in Sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy in Helsinki.__

James Prevett on Helsingissä asuva ja työskentelevä englantilainen taiteilija. Hän yhdistää esineitä, tekstiä, kuvia ja videoita kuvanveistoksi. Hänen työnsä pohjana on kiinnostus siihen, mikä muodostaa "fyysisen" ja toisaalta veistoksellisen. Hänen töitään on ollut esillä laajalti ympäri maailman, kuten Isossa-Britanniassa, Thaimaassa, Singaporessa, Virossa, Yhdysvalloissa, Itävallassa ja Brasiliassa. James oli mukana ryhmässä, joka edusti Isoa-Britanniaa Venetsian arkkitehtuuribiennaalissa 2006.&#38;nbsp; James on opettanut Isossa-Britanniassa ja Thaimaassa. Tällä hetkellä hän työskentelee kuvanveiston lehtorina Kuvataideakatemiassa Helsingissä.

ALEKSANDRA KISKONENProducer

Aleksandra Kiskonen (OTT, HuK) on tutkija, toimija ja kokija, jota ilahduttavat yksityiskohdat ja poikkeamat. Tällä hetkellä häntä mietityttävät arvot, ystävyys ja materiaaleihin liittyvät kysymykset. Suhde mikron ja makron, abstraktin ja konkreettisen, osan ja kokonaisuuden välillä on kysymys, johon hän huomaa palaavansa yhä uudelleen. Aleksandra tausta on oikeustieteessä ja estetiikassa. Parhaillaan hän opiskelee Kuvataideakatemian esittämiskäytäntöjen maisteriohjelmassa. ––Aleksandra Kiskonen is a writer, researcher and experience collector who is delighted by details and anomalies. Currently she is pondering on values, materials and friendship. The relation between micro and macro, abstract and concrete, part and whole has intrigued her for years and still does. Aleksandra holds a PhD in Law (2015, University of Turku), Bachelor of Arts in Aesthetics (2016, University of Helsinki) and is enrolled in the Praxis Master's Programme (Exhibition studies) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, Finland.
